I had always thought that Niagara Falls was in a park-like area, sort of like the Grand Canyon or Multnomah Falls. I didn't think that it was on the edge of a big tourist trap. The touristy part of the town of Niagara Falls is not pretty. Every street is lined with places selling everything you can think of.
But, the falls are all they are cracked up to be. I took a LOT of pictures.
After walking along the edge of the parkway, Lori and I took a boat ride around the falls. It was fun, and we got very wet. They give you red ponchos to wear, but you still get wet. What I thought would feel like gentle mist as you get near the falls actually feels like heavy rain.
We had Greek food for lunch (YUM!), and then we stopped at the site of The Battle of Lundy's Lane, which is now a cemetery. The battle was in 1814 and was part of the War of 1812.
Later, we came back to the hotel, sat in the bar with Barb and visited for quite awhile. It was a nice time! I had to say goodbye to Lori, and then it was time for our Cycle America dinner and meeting.
Tomorrow we head back to the U.S., and we've been told that going through U.S. customs is not quite as pleasant as going into Canada. We shall see.
